During my pregnancy, I constantly heard about the potential challenges of postpartum. If you're anything like me, it can be the cause of anxiety and frustration. As a new mother, the postpartum period can be a wonderful time to bond with your baby and enjoy the new changes in your life. While it can be challenging at times (and I am not discounting that at all), I want to talk about the many joys that can be found in this special time.

One of the greatest joys of postpartum is getting to know your baby. Every moment is precious and unforgettable, from their first real smile (not a gas smile) to their first giggle, to any of the fun milestones your baby reaches. It is amazing to watch as your baby grows and develops. As you spend time with your little one, you'll discover their unique personality and bond with them in a way that only a mother can.

Another joy of postpartum is the support and love that you receive from your family and friends. Whether it was a home-cooked meal from Mom or a phone call from a friend checking in on us, the support we received during this time can make all the difference. You really realize who your true people are during this time in life. I remember we were in shock at how much love and support we received after having our baby.

My favorite thing about postpartum (and maybe life) was watching my husband become a dad. Watching him love our baby girl has been one of the most beautiful things ever. The way he comes home so excited to see her and is always playing with her is so much fun to see. He was so nervous about having a girl and now he is wrapped around her little finger. I cannot wait to see how their bond grows as she grows!

Finally, postpartum is a time of growth and learning. This was something that I viewed as a challenge for the longest time, there are lots of different changes that happen during this time and it can be tough to navigate those changes. I now realize that these changes come with great rewards and are such a blessing. All the growth as an individual, a couple, and a parent, I wouldn't trade for the world. During this time I learned so many new things and discovered strengths I never knew I had. From breastfeeding to changing diapers, every new challenge is an opportunity to grow and become a better parent.

Overall, the joys of postpartum are many. While it can be a difficult time, it's also a time of great happiness and excitement. While there are many joys of postpartum, it is important to remember that it is completely normal to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and even a little lost. This is a time filled with lots of transitions and changes, not just for your baby, but for you as well. Remember that it's okay to ask for help, whether it's from your partner, family, or friends. Give yourself time to heal, seek help when needed, and build a strong support system. So while you and your baby are wearing matching diapers, remember to embrace the journey and enjoy every moment with your precious little one. You've got this, mama!
