5 Tips for a New Mom

There are a lot of things thrown at you as a new mom so here are a few simple tips I have to ease the load of being a new mom!


1. Do Not Compare Yourself to Other Moms

I think it is human nature to compare ourselves to others, I am definitely guilty of it. In all honesty, it really doesn't serve me in any way to compare myself to others though. Becoming a mom, I have started to care a whole lot less about the little things in life and my main focus is on my baby. Comparing myself to other moms would have taken away from so many moments with my baby. Every mom is different, every baby is different, and every experience is different. Do what is best for you and your baby.


2. Resume Normal Life Activities Pre-Baby

This was something my husband and I were adamant about before we had our baby. We knew we wanted our baby to be an addition of us and not change our life so much to the point that we were antisocial. Trust me, it is hard at first to resume the normal ways of life but it gets easier! Take your baby grocery shopping, out to restaurants, friend gatherings, etc. You will be so thankful when your baby adapts to these environments.


3. Don't Stress the Small Stuff

The key word here is small. While it may seem like a major problem at the moment, it will be ok. Stressing over these things will only create more frustration for you. There have been moments where I forgot a change of clothes for the baby or my husband didn't put the baby's things away where I usually put them away. At the moment I want to absolutely lose my sh*t but I have learned to let it go. Pick and choose your battles.


4. Give Yourself Grace

Remember, you are new to this and it is ok to not be perfect. I am sure there is no mom in the world that would consider themselves perfect. You do what you need to do and it's ok if you need a break or a minute to yourself. I remember feeling so much anxiety about certain things, especially breastfeeding but I kept reminding myself to give myself grace. I still need to remind myself of this. Give yourself the time and the grace you need in order to be a good parent for your little one.


5. Ask For Help

You are not meant to do this alone! There is no shame in asking for help.
