It can be really hard to prioritize your relationship after a baby. Everything can get lost In the new chaos of life. Here are some tips to keep your relationship strong during this time!
1. Don't Forget About Each other
It can be all too easy to let your marriage and relationship take a backseat to the demands of a new baby. However, it's crucial that you make an effort to maintain your connection with your partner and the love that brought you together in the first place. Even though your focus may be on your little one, it's important not to neglect the rest of your life. One way to do this is by planning a date night with your significant other, even if it is a date at home after baby has gone to sleep. get back to the basics of why you love each other.
2. Make Time for Yourself
I know this sounds odd while we are talking about strengthening your relationship but it correlates, I promise. making time for yourself will allow you to do something you enjoy and give yourself time to regather yourselves during this wild time. This will help you be a better spouse and a better parent.
3. Put Your Phones Down
Phones have taken over our world and IT is so easy to want to just sit down and peruse through your phone when you have a break. We have noticed that we will sit through a whole episode of our Netflix show and we were on our phones the entire time (I am sure we aren't the only ones). Find a time in your week or day to fully unplug and dedicate that time to undivided you guys time.
4. Offer Help to Each Other Without Being Asked
If you see your spouse struggling, help them. Both of you have strengths that will play a major role in this new phase of life but you will also have your weaknesses. You will both have your moments and having your partner there to pick you up will make all the difference. Plan ahead and set your household up for success by dividing up tasks and checking in with each other regularly.
5. Make an effort to Hold Hands Throughout the Day
Simple as that! The smallest amount of PHYSICAL touch can make a big difference. whether it is holding hands, a long hug, or a kiss, it will help you both during this period of time.
